We hired Coliseum Concrete to replace our garage floor, driveway, front step, pathway and the backyard patio. Jonathan and his crew were excellent and worked diligently everyday and the projects were finished on time as Jonathan promised that they would.
We used Coliseum to take out the grass in the front yard and put interlock to extend our driveway. The quality of service was exceptional and on time. They took the time to do create a good plan beyond our satisfaction and also made recommendations to add better aesthetics to our plan
We had an excellent experience with Jonathan and his team. They transformed our under deck area into a fully usable space. The team worked hard for the three days they were on-site. The workmanship was exactly what you would hope for a large job as ours (650 sq ft). The last day they multitasked and sealed the concrete while others were cleaning up and putting down all new soil. Does a hot tub really need a professional concrete pad?
Yes. A full hot tub can weigh several thousand pounds. A professionally poured concrete pad provides the uniform support needed to prevent the tub’s frame from warping or cracking. It also keeps the equipment off the wet ground, extending the lifespan of your investment.
How thick should a standard concrete slab be?
For most residential sheds or hot tubs, a 4-inch slab is the industry standard. However, for heavy equipment or large storage structures, we may recommend a 5 or 6-inch reinforced pour to ensure maximum load-bearing capacity.
Do you use reinforcement like rebar in smaller pads?
We evaluate every project individually. While smaller pads may only require fiber-mesh reinforcement, larger structural slabs often include a rebar grid to provide the tensile strength necessary to prevent shifting and cracking over time.
How do you ensure the pad doesn't sink into my lawn?
The key is the sub-base. We don’t just pour on top of dirt; we excavate the organic material and replace it with compacted granular stone. This creates a stable, non-porous foundation that won’t wash away or compress under the weight of the concrete.
How soon can I install my shed or hot tub on the new pad?
While the concrete may feel hard within 24 hours, it takes time to reach its full structural strength. We recommend waiting at least 7 days before placing heavy concentrated loads like a hot tub or a large garden shed on the new surface.
